In the event of an emergency, be ready.
Get to a safe place. Call University Police at 919-515-3000 or 911. Safely notify others who may be in danger.

In case we lose power:
All computers in the testing rooms have battery backups. However, not all battery backups will stay on the same amount of time. If we lose power in the test center, please follow these procedures:
- Contact Sharon or Kara email or call.
- Go into all the testing rooms to notify students to save their exam progress by hitting “Next” or “Save without Submitting.” Allow the students to keep working if they would like.
- Everyone should stay in place (there will be emergency lighting).
- Wait further communication from Sharon or Kara
In case of a fire alarm:
- All students and staff must leave the building.
- Follow the posted evacuation route for your location.
- Make sure students save their exam progress by hitting “Next” or “Save without Submitting.” Do not need to log out, should not collect any belongings
- Keep everyone together
- Contact Sharon or Kara email or call when you get to safety. We will notify instructors regarding impacted students.
- Upon return
- Check student ID, return to seats and continue exams.
In case of a tornado/ severe thunderstorm
- All persons should seek shelter immediately:
- Make sure students save their exam progress by hitting “Next” or “Save without Submitting.” Do not need to log out, should not collect any belongings
- Lock main entrance if applicable
- Go to the innermost part of the building on the lowest floor possible.
- Do not use elevators
- Once the all clear is given
- Recheck student IDs, return to seats and continue exams
